Red Blood Cell Haemoglobin Oxygen Dissociation Curves

Fetal haemoglobin (fetal hemoglobin, HbF) differs from adult hemoglobin (adult hemoglobin, HbA) in its ablity to bind oxygen with greater affinity than the adult form.

Remember that overall oxygen tension in the fetus is lower than that found in maternal arterial blood.
