Abstract
Charts of organ weights for an Australian population of fetuses and infants are presented. The organ-weight charts were compiled from 1337 stillbirths and liveborn babies whose gestational age ranged from 20 to 43 weeks, and who lived less than 72 h. Macerated stillbirths, multiple births and malformed organs were excluded. Pathological conditions aside from malformations were not excluded, leading to higher standard deviations compared with currently used charts. The organ weights are presented in two-week increments from 20 to 43 weeks' gestation as means, with standard deviations.

Reference values for second trimester fetal and neonatal organ weights and measurements
Pediatr Dev Pathol. 2003 Mar-Apr;6(2):160-7. Epub 2003 Jan 29.

Abstract
To establish accurate reference ranges for the entire second trimester, we documented organ weights, body weight, and linear measurements for 597 fetuses and neonates with gestational ages ranging from 12 to 26 wk. We determined the mean and standard deviation for weights and measurements at each week of gestation using the StatView trade mark SE + Graphics statistical program. The analyses revealed a linear correlation between the gestational age and, respectively, the toe-heel length, crown-rump length, and crown-heel length. Body and organ weights increase at varying rates throughout the second trimester. The data correlate well with weights and measurements previously published for the latter half of the second trimester, and extend these reference ranges to encompass the entire second trimester.

Radiology. 1992 Feb;182(2):501-5. Fetal crown-rump length: reevaluation of relation to menstrual age (5-18 weeks) with high-resolution real-time US. Hadlock FP1, Shah YP, Kanon DJ, Lindsey JV. Author information
Abstract Because of recent challenges in the literature regarding the validity of the older crown-rump length (CRL) data developed with conventional static-image ultrasound scanners, the authors evaluated the relationship between CRL and menstrual age of fetuses in a population of 416 patients with good menstrual dates. By using a variety of commercially available transabdominal and transvaginal real-time ultrasound probes, the authors demonstrated that measurements can be made successfully for CRLs varying in size from 2 mm to 12 cm. Regression analysis of the data resulted in development of a new table for predicting menstrual age of fetuses on the basis of CRL measurements obtained between 5 and 18 weeks gestation. Although the magnitude of the raw residuals increased over time, the variability in predicting menstrual age was demonstrated to be relatively constant at +/- 8% (2 standard deviations) when expressed as a percentage of the predicted value. The accuracy in predicting menstrual age from CRL after 14 weeks was equivalent to but not better than conventional measurements such as biparietal diameter and femur length. PMID 1732970
