Trachea Histology
The trachea is lined by an cells described as a pseudostratified epithelium. (Stain - Haematoxylin Eosin)
Pseudostratified Epithelium
- All epithelial cells make contact with the basement membrane
- Not all cells reach the surface of the epithelium.
Specializations and Glandular
- The epithelial cells may also have surface specializations such as cilia and are described as ciliated.
- The epithelium also contains Goblet cells, glandular simple columnar epithelial cells hat secrete mucus.
