Human Conceptus (day 5)

• By day 5 the blastocyst has a large blastocoel (fluid-filled space) with a single layer of thin (squamous) trophoblast cells forming the trophectoderm.
• The inner cell mass or embryoblast can be seen to the left of the blastocoel.
• The blastocyst is still contained inside the zona pellucida.
